GeekCamp 2019: Getting Started with Smart Contracts

We had a fantastic audience for our smart contract workshop at GeekCamp!

On 19th October 2019, I gave a workshop on smart contracts on an eventful day full of technology talks.

Here are some additional information about the workshop:

Workshop Details

A decentralized app or “DApp”, is an application that allows users to control and own their data, without oversight from any centralized provider, often based on blockchain technology. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to write smart contracts and build decentralized applications. You will start by learning why decentralization matters. Then, you will get a practical hands-on with the Solidity programming language and develop a your own cryptocurrency running on the Ethereum blockchain. Finally, you’ll learn more about the current and emerging use cases of smart contracts.

Target Audience Profile

This talk is intended for intermediate to advanced software engineers who wish to learn more about how to build decentralized applications, writing smart contracts, and the Ethereum blockchain. The ideal learner must have familiar with general programming and have had some exposure to object-oriented (OO) programming. Familiarity with blockchain technology or the Solidity programming language is not required, but is helpful.
